'Titanic' stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are to reunite for BBC Films' forthcoming adaptation of literary classic 'Revolutionary Road'.And if that wasn't enough star power for one project, Oscar-winner Sam Mendes is to direct the film, which will be based on Richard Yates' satirical novel. Set in the 1950s, the film will star the Oscar nominated pair as Frank and April Wheeler, a seemingly happy Connecticut couple who in reality find themselves unfulfilled by the American dream. They relocate to France in an effort to free their creative ambitions, but the move only further accentuates their spiritual and emotional emptiness.'Having bought the rights to the book and developed it, we could not be more delighted at the way this film has come together,' said David Thompson, Head of BBC Films. 'This is an extraordinary story with wide international appeal and resonance. To be working with such outstanding talent from both sides of the Atlantic is particularly exciting, and is very much in line with our strategy of attracting world class talent to BBC Films' projects as well as giving opportunities to new talent.'
