Packed with bigger muscles, badder weapons and a multitude of monsters, the kitten-loving hero is back…
HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY2 DISC DVD & BLU-RAY FROM 8th DECEMBER
In 2004, visionary writer/director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) brought Mike Mignola’s legendary comic-book hero Hellboy to the big screen, and now he is back in the massively entertaining, banter-filled Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Complete with horns, tail and attitude plus bigger muscle, better weapons, and a multitude of monsters the kitten-loving red hero is kicking even more evil ass. Available on 2 disc DVD and 2 disc Blu-Ray from 8th December 2008, this is one fantastically fun masterpiece not to be missed!
The reluctant hero, who’d rather be settling down with his pyrokinetic girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair; Legally Blonde, In Good Company), a cigar and a six-pack feels the pull of duty when he gets a call from his employer, the top-secret Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.). Hellboy, a creature of both worlds who’s accepted by neither, must now choose between the life he knows and an unknown destiny that beckons.
Prince Nuada (Luke Goss; Blade II, Unearthed) of the underworld has grown weary of centuries of mankinds power and all hell is about to break loose as he plans to awaken the dormant Golden Army. Only quick-witted Hellboy, accompanied by his flammable girlfriend and close friend Abe Sapien (Doug Jones; Pan’s Labyrinth, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) can stop this dark ruler and save our world from annihilation. Nuada’s drive for revenge is balanced by the compassion of his twin, the ethereal beauty Princess Nuala (Anna Walton), who soon falls for Abe’s charms.
The B.P.R.D. must travel between the surface strata of the humans and the hidden magical one, packed with incredible fantasy creatures such as the Angel of Death, plus the breathtaking troll market to unlock the indestructible army.
Packed with nearly 4 hours of incredible extras including a 2 hour Hellboy making of documentary, a tour of the Troll Market with Guillermo del Toro, and deleted scenes this DVD & Blu-Ray is essential entertainment this Christmas.

Synopsis
After 30 years as partners in the pressure cooker environment of the NYPD, highly decorated Detectives David Fisk and Thomas Cowan should be ready for retirement, but aren t. Before they can hang up their badges, they are called in to investigate the murder of a notorious pimp, which appears to have ties to a case they solved years before. Like the original murder, the victim is a suspected criminal whose body is found accompanied by a four line poem justifying the killing. When additional crimes take place, it becomes clear the detectives are looking for a serial killer, one who targets criminals that have fallen through the cracks of the judicial system. His mission is to do what the cops can t do on their own--take the culprits off the streets for good. The similarities between the recent killings and their earlier case raise a nagging question: Did they put the wrong man behind bars?

Slumdog Millionaire's Oscar hopes Kolammal Shankar [January 22, 2009, 9:29:37 AM]
Just a few hours for the Oscar nominations to be announced. Just a few hours to see who makes it to the world's most coveted red carpet. Just a few hours to see how many Oscar-prayers will be answered and how many will be left unheeded.
As the whole of tinsel town waits with bated-breaths for the 81st Academy Awards nominations, Slumdog Millionaire is the buzzword on everyone's lips. Everyone's mind is pondering on how many nominations Danny Boyle and his crew will sweep at the Oscars.
A cursory look at the experts' opinions and the other big contenders may help us gauge Slumdog Millionaire's chances at the Oscars.
Experts opine that a movie should have a 搒trong rooting?factor to make it to the Oscars. The academy's odd ballot prefers the best (and often, the oddest) of movies. Oscar pundits think some of the biggest contenders for the Best Film category nominations would be Slumdog Millionaire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Milk, Dark Knight, Frost/Nixon and Doubt. Other lesser contenders may include Gran Torino, Wall-E and The Wrestler.
From all the predictions and cine-soothsayings, Slumdog Millionaire's nominations seem to be a certainty. Hence, it is not overtly ambitious if the Slumdog crew and the Indian film fraternity revel in the hope of making it to the Oscars.
May all their Oscar dreams come true!

Golden Globe: Best Picture Drama - Revolutionary Road
Synopsis:
Adapted from the revealing novel by Richard Yates, Revolutionary Road is an incisive portrait of an American marriage seen through the eyes of Frank (three-time Academy Award® nominee Leonardo DiCaprio) and April (five-time Academy Award® nominee Kate Winslet) Wheeler.
Yates’ story of 1950’s America poses a question that has been reverberating through modern relationships ever since: can two people break away from the ordinary without breaking apart?
Frank and April have always seen themselves as special, different, ready and willing to live their lives based on higher ideals. So, as soon as they move into their new house on Revolutionary Road, they proudly declare their independence from the suburban inertia that surrounds them and determine never to be trapped by the social confines of their era.
Yet for all their charm, beauty and irreverence, the Wheelers find themselves becoming exactly what they didn’t expect: a good man with a meaningless job whose nerve has gone missing; a less-than-happy homemaker starving for fulfillment and passion; an American family with lost dreams, like any other.

Sam Mendes will direct Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the forthcoming drama.
Mar 23 2007
'Titanic' stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are to reunite for BBC Films' forthcoming adaptation of literary classic 'Revolutionary Road'.And if that wasn't enough star power for one project, Oscar-winner Sam Mendes is to direct the film, which will be based on Richard Yates' satirical novel. Set in the 1950s, the film will star the Oscar nominated pair as Frank and April Wheeler, a seemingly happy Connecticut couple who in reality find themselves unfulfilled by the American dream. They relocate to France in an effort to free their creative ambitions, but the move only further accentuates their spiritual and emotional emptiness.'Having bought the rights to the book and developed it, we could not be more delighted at the way this film has come together,' said David Thompson, Head of BBC Films. 'This is an extraordinary story with wide international appeal and resonance. To be working with such outstanding talent from both sides of the Atlantic is particularly exciting, and is very much in line with our strategy of attracting world class talent to BBC Films' projects as well as giving opportunities to new talent.'
